A previous adopter and long time supporter recently contacted us with an offer we could not refuse. The adopter, who wishes to remain anonymous, will match up to $1,000 of all donations made from September 1 – September 7.
It is the adopter’s hope that this initiative and generosity will not only raise vital funds, but also spark motivation and creativity in other adopters, volunteers, and supporters to come up with your own way to play an integral part in our organization. Please help us raise $1,000 to maximize this donation and consider contacting us for ways you can become more involved with One Tail at a Time.
Why donate? In August, One Tail at a Time rescued 10 dogs from Chicago open-access shelters and 4 dogs from suburban shelters, puppy mills, and other high kill shelters in Indiana.
One Tail at a Time provides all dogs with basic veterinary care, which costs on average $150-$200 for a completely healthy dog. Many dogs require additional treatment, which can cost upwards of $500 or more. Please help us continue to intake and place dogs…
…like Beatrice Fluffington! Bea is a 10-year-old Akita mix that One Tail saved from Chicago Animal Care and Control on August 10th. She needed basic veterinary care, as well as hip xrays and supplements. A recent vet check discovered that she has a mass on her neck and may have a skin infection and other ailments that One Tail is committed to treating. She is currently being boarded at Bark Bark Club where she enjoys napping, playing with her canine friends…and napping.
Ripley was saved from Chicago Animal Care and Control on July 7th. She stayed in our care for 6 weeks while she fought off severe pneumonia. Her medical bills alone cost close to $1,000, not to mention boarding costs at the vet. But we know she was worth it. She recovered and is now in a loving forever home with her adopted canine brother, Cow.
Sailor Moon was rescued from Chicago Animal Control where she was a volunteer favorite. This squishy-faced girl is a huge fan of belly rubs, other dogs, and making people laugh. Sailor is truly a once in a lifetime kind of dog.
Shortly after joining One Tail, we learned that Sailor needed surgery in both of her eyes to correct a problem with her eyelids, in addition to regular vetting. Now fully recovered and living in foster care, Sailor is awaiting a forever home.
As part of our Back in Black promotion, Sailor’s adoption fee is reduced to $100 until September 17th! Visit her petfinder profile to learn more about this sweet girl.
Whether you have $10 or $10,000 to spare, you can play a part in savings the lives of Chicago’s homeless dogs. Contact AnnaOTAT@gmail.com if you’d like to explore creative ways to help One Tail at a Time grow.
Rescue groups and shelters across the country know black cats and dogs are often incredibly friendly and loving, each with their own personality. Unfortunately, they get overlooked just because of the color of their fur and outdated myths. To help get exposure for these deserving animals, One Tail at a Time is participating in Best Friends Animal Society’s national Back in Black adoption promotion featuring only black animals — and cutting adoption fees in half.
Between August 15th and September 17th, adoption fees for black dogs are reduced to $100.
Join us for a special Back in Black Adoption Event! Saturday, August 20th from 12pm – 3pm
