Adoption Procedure & Application
•Fill out our adoption survey so we can get to know more about what characteristics in a dog would best fit your lifestyle. Email the completed form to the Adoption Counselor listed on the dog’s online profile found here, or fax it to 866-515-6828.
•The Adoption Counselor (AC) will screen and review your application within 48 hours. The AC will then contact you via email; at that time s/he will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
•Once your survey is screened and approved, a time will be set for everyone in your household, including any other pets, to meet the adoptable dog. As we do not currently have a shelter space, meetings are coordinated with the dog’s foster home or boarding facility.
•If all goes well at the introduction, the Adoption Counselor will arrange a time to bring the dog to your home to do a home check and start a foster-to-adopt (FTA). The FTA is a maximum of a 2-week period for serious and committed adopters to work on making the dog’s transition to a permanent member of your family successful. FTA may not be required, and adoptions may take place immediately, if there are no children other pets in the home, and the adoptive dog does not have any training needs. If signs arise of the dog not being able to transition successfully into your home, we will take the dog back. During the FTA, we provide all food, supplies, crate and, if needed, veterinary care.
•Our adoption fee is $200, or $150 for dogs over age 7, and covers a wellness exam, spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations, heartworm test, and microchip.
•At the finalization you will receive your new companion’s medical records, a copy of our adoption contract, and information about our community partners. It is also at the finalization that the dog’s adoption fee must be paid and all supplies returned to the rescue.
*Please note: In an effort to ensure that each dog goes to the home that best suits their needs and personality, if we receive multiple surveys for the same dog, we will compare and decide which individual/family may be the best fit. We will only contact the applicant that we feel may provide the most ideal match for the specific dog.
