Margot, a female Cattle Dog mix, escaped from her Lake Forest, IL foster-to-adopt home on 2/15/10. She managed to escape from her crate while her fosters were away and when the dog walker arrived, she darted out the door.

Margot is now loose in the Lake Forest area and her potential adopters are currently out frantically looking for her. The local animal control and area shelters and rescues have also been notified and given a full description of Margot. She is currently microchipped and wearing a light blue collar with sheep on it.

Please spread the word in any way you can about Margot. If you know people in the area, please send them THIS FLYER (click here to download) and ask them to post it wherever they can – leave it on windshields, at supermarkets, libraries, gas stations, forest preserves and dog parks – wherever people will be sure to see it.

Margot was previously a stray for nearly a year and was very elusive in being caught. She was picked up by Kane County Animal Control and it is believed she may try to go back to her ‘den’ in that area. Though she adores people once she gets to know them, she can be skiddish with strangers and will scare easily in new environments. Margot is good with other dogs so she may be more inclined to come over to you if you have a dog-social dog with you.

One Tail at a Time T-Shirt Design Contest! 

OTAT is looking for a new t-shirt design and we want you to design it!

Designs should incorporate the name One Tail at a Time and a theme that encompasses one of our missions (saving dogs, second chances, getting the community involved etc.)

The winning designer will receive a t-shirt, Friends of One Tail at a Time 2010 calendar, and a gift certificate to a local restaurant!

THIS WEEKEND! One Tail at a Time will have a table at the Renegade Craft Fair on Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th, from 11am-7pm. Renegade is one of the largest craft fairs in the city and will be a great way for One Tail to reach a very large audience. We will be selling a number of handmade crafts created by One Tail volunteers and showing off some of our adoptable dogs for a portion of the event.

Dear OTAT Supporters,

One Tail at a Time is looking for a fifth board member to join our team!  OTAT is a registered non-profit, no-kill organization and we run the rescue like a business, so we are looking for business-minded individuals. We work hard, but have a lot of fun and hope to find a similarly optimistic and motivated individual to join us.

Qualifications:

• A love for dogs!
• Ability to attend monthly board meetings and adoption and fundraising events on weekends (not every weekend!)
• Ability to help with volunteer duties such as transporting dogs, finalizing adoptions, and organizing events
• The drive to save animals’ lives and help grow a small rescue into a self-sustaining organization
• You must agree with our mission, which can be found on our website. www.onetail.org 

It is not necessary that you have prior rescue or shelter experience, although it is a plus. We would prefer someone with fundraising or grant writing experience, but we will consider anyone who has a specific skill or passion that would help OTAT grow in the right direction.  If you are interested, please email HeatherOTAT@gmail.com with a few paragraphs on why you are interested, what skills you have to offer, and the level of commitment you would be able to offer. Please include a resume if you have one.  All candidates will have an informal interview with OTAT board members before a decision is made.
