Job Details:  Position has the possibility of being either part (20 hours/week) or full time (40 hours/week).  Salary will be discussed at interview, and will be within the parameters of a small non-profit.

Purpose of the Position:  The Director of Development will develop and implement fundraising goals and strategies to grow One Tail at a Time in the desired direction.  The Director will be responsible for writing grants, creating fundraising strategies, reaching out to potential donors, and developing business plans for future growth possibilities. The Director will report to the Board President & Vice President, and regularly present to the Board of Directors.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

1. Identify applicable grants and apply for those grants
2. Create a business plan to implement the Board’s desired goals
3. Create fundraising strategies to reach approved goals
4. Create a donor database
5. Reach out to new and existing donors
6. Create new business partnerships
7. Regularly communicate with the Board of Directors

Job Requirements:

1. College degree is required, Masters or advanced degree preferred
2. A passion for companion animal welfare
3. Applicant must have proven success in fundraising
4. Grant writing experience
5. Experience drafting business plans
6. Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills, a professional, tactful, mature and sincere attitude, and be able to represent the mission, goals and the policies of One Tail at a Time in a creative, credible and energetic manner
7. Must be able to work independently without constant guidance or assistance
8. Must be able to work maturely and respectfully with diverse groups of people.
9. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable with computer systems and have basic computer skills, including spreadsheet and database skills.  Experience with google docs is preferred.
10. Commitment to mission, values, goals and success of One Tail at a Time.
11. Position requires frequent access to email and ability to respond to emails in a prompt fashion.
12. Position requires ongoing access to a reliable transportation.
