Chicagoland Rescue Intervention
and Support Program (CRISP)

In May of 2016, One Tail at a Time announced that it would be running the city’s only shelter-diversion program with the partnership of seven local no-kill rescues.

Chicagoland Rescue Intervention and Support Program (“CRISP”) provides free services to help Chicago pet owners keep their pets, rather than surrendering them. Four days every week, volunteers from the different rescue partners are on site at animal control to help pet owners find a way to keep their pets.

If keeping a pet with the family isn’t an option, CRISP immediately begins networking the animal into a no-kill rescue group or shelter to by-pass the city shelter completely.

89% of the time, these pets do not enter Chicago Animal Care and Control, which houses hundreds of pets any given day of the year.
