Humane Education

One Tail at a Time strives to create communities in which there is no neglect of companion animals, which are safe for all who live in them, and where euthanasia is no longer used to control pet overpopulation.

Humane education is key to creating those communities, and One Tail at a Time’s Humane Education programming not only inspires participants to live with compassion, but also provides the knowledge and tools to make that world reality.

Presentations can be geared towards a number of animal welfare-related topics affecting your community, including:

  • Proper pet care
  • Puppy mills
  • The connection between community violence and animal abuse
  • Safety around animals, including how to read dog/cat body language
  • Animal related careers
  • Keeping your pet healthy, including pet first aid, CPR, and what to do in an emergency
  • Animal overpopulation
  • Animal enrichment both in a shelter/rescue setting and at home

Programming can be scheduled for hour-long or on-going sessions and can be designed for youth or adult audiences. There is no cost for these programs, although a suggested donation drive for items to care for our foster dogs is appreciated.

Lunch Buddies Program

Lunch Buddies is a program specially designed for offices and places of business to enjoy the benefits of relaxing with a dog during the lunch hour, while giving adoptables a chance to meet a new crowd and staff an opportunity to take part in brief humane education programming.

Custom programming is available to suit your needs. From education seminars, panel discussions, to puppy social hours and many more options. Adoptable dogs may accompany our Humane Educator, but are not required. For more information, click here.
