One Tail at a Time has a dedicated program to rescue sick (or injured) animals that need either to be isolated or to have specialized veterinary care to be rehabilitated and adoptable. We believe these animals are the most vulnerable and at risk, and therefore are deserving of extra attention and love.

The ISO Program started in 2017 in response to Chicago’s 2-year canine influenza epidemic, and in its first six months saved more than 100 lives.

How does it work?

Dogless (ISO) foster families open their homes to dogs from our city shelters. If their foster dog does break with canine flu (or other common shelter illnesses), he or she can recover quickly while not getting other pets sick in the meantime.
