How to Leave a Gift
To make a bequest to One Tail at a Time, here is some sample language you may wish to use:
A gift that can be used where need is greatest
Sample language: I give, devise, and bequeath to One Tail at a Time, Chicago IL _________ (Dollars)* to be used where it is needed most.
Leaves any remainder after all other bequests have been paid
Sample Language: I give, devise, and bequeath to One Tail at a Time, Chicago IL, ________ percent of the residue of my estate to be used for its general purposes.
Takes effect only if a primary intention can’t be met
Sample Language: In the event that ____________ predeceases me, I give, devise, and bequeath his/her bequest or share to One Tail at a Time, Chicago IL to be used for its general purposes.
*Rather than leaving a sum certain, you can include language that refers to a percentage of your estate or a description of the property you wish to give.
Unless otherwise specified, all gifts given to One Tail at a Time will be placed in general operational funds to be used where they are needed most. If you would like to designate your gift to a specific activity or program, please contact us to ensure that your wishes are properly understood and that we’re able to accommodate your request.
