Sixteen years ago, five friends sat around a dining table in a north side Chicago apartment and each took $20 out of their wallet to make One Tail at a Time official. Our Organization started in 2008 from nothing but that $100 and a lot of grit. Over the years we have been joined by thousands and thousands of people who agree that companion animals belong in homes, not cages in shelters.
Today, we have saved well over 10,000 animals and have a bustling community support program that supports our mantra “It’s not rescue if they already have a home.” The last 16 years were built by a community of the most compassionate hard workers we know, and we hope that the next 16 will carry that legacy. Join us as we try to save more lives, keep more families together, and support as many dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, birds, and whatever else comes our way.
