One Tail at a Time's Apartment

One Tail at a Time’s Apartment houses individuals transitioning out of  homelessness in exchange for their fostering or caring for One Tail at a Time foster pets. The mutual aid program provides benefits to both our residents and our foster pets as they care for each other during transitional phases. One Tail at a Time partners with local homeless and mutual aid organizations in Chicago to identify qualifying residents.

Testimony from a former resident:

“Shortly after moving to Chicago from out-of-state, the pandemic started and I was furloughed by my job. To make matters worse, by the summer, I found myself in an unsafe living environment… (OTAT) offered me shelter, hosting me at no cost, safely, with no contact entry. They offered me safety and stability so I could get back on my feet and once again feel hopeful about the future. I also had a first-hand look at the care they took in rescuing and rehoming animals. Heather and all the folks at OTT have the biggest hearts for both animals and people, and the city of Chicago is extremely lucky to have them be part of the community.
