About the Bucktown Adoption Center

Our Bucktown Adoption Center opened in 2015! We’re located at 2144 N Wood St. Chicago, IL 60614 and we have adoptable dogs on site Wednesday – Sunday! Everyone is free to stop by the Adoption Center, appointments are not needed.

Are there dogs and cats at the Bucktown Adoption Center?

Dogs only! For cats or critters, please visit our South Loop Everyday Adoption Center. To view which dogs are on site, visit the Adoptable Pets page and click “Bucktown Adoption Center” under “Location” and the pets will filter.

Do I need to have an application on file in order to visit?

Nope! We accept walk-ins anytime during open hours. To adopt, you do need to have an application on file, but you can fill that out on your smartphone while you are on-site if you like.

Do I need to know which dog(s) I want to look at?

Nope! Our Adoption Center Manager can help to make suggestions for you based on what you are looking for.

Can I just walk around the space and view dogs in their kennels?

No, this location is not set up that in the typical shelter fashion. We like to keep things cozy, so we have a nice living room set up upstairs, and a great large yard space. These are the two main meeting areas. Simply, let staff know which dog(s) you are interested in meeting and they will bring them to you!

What are your adoption fees and what does my new dog come with?

Puppies are $350, adult dogs are $300, and seniors are $150. Senior people adopting senior pets get a special reduced price of $100. We also have many adoption events with half-off fees. Additionally, many dogs have sponsored fees (just look for the blue heart on their profile photo!)

If you adopt, your new dog will come with a martingale collar and leash.

Is there parking?

There is free street parking on multiple streets around our Adoption Center. Please refrain from blocking our driveway.

I have a question I don't see answered here...
