Marion’s triumphant transformation

Marion One Tail at a Time

“Between OTAT alum Bucky and Marion, I’m now running a little ‘doggie retirement community,’ and I couldn’t be more thrilled."

When beagle-mix Marion joined the One Tail pack in August, there was a *lot* of him to love. The 90-pound senior lovebug was sluggish and struggled to waddle just a few feet at a time. Stairs were his sworn enemy.

Over the course of several months, a dedicated team of staff and foster homes taught Marion how to appreciate increasingly long walks and healthy snacks (carrots are his favorite now!). At 60-ish pounds, Marion is goofy, playful and much closer to his ideal weight.

Shortly after Marion’s current foster family had committed to adopt him (!), Marion unfortunately received a cancer diagnosis. However, his new family remained undeterred and has committed to giving this special pup all of their love, carrots and belly rubs while he undergoes treatment and for the rest of his life.

New human Katie is a second-time One Tail adopter, having welcomed senior corgi Bucky to her family in 2017.

“I have always had a very intense love of old animals, especially those who need a little TLC to help make their golden years the best yet,” said Katie. “Between OTAT alum Bucky and Marion, I’m now running a little ‘doggie retirement community,’ and I couldn’t be more thrilled. … We are so grateful for the OTAT team for bringing these two “Grumpy Old Men” into our lives. We owe you for all of the happy days, laughs and snuggles!”

Marion’s prognosis is good, and we think his future looks pretty bright!
